Kaua'i

We enjoyed a trip to Kaua'i with Doug, Kath, Tom and Angie - stayed in the Princeville area which proved to be a bit too soggy this time around to fully experience. It did leave us curious to go there another time of year to catch it with a bit less rainfall. After all, it is "the rainiest place on earth," officially. Due to the fact that we were there at a time when they got 17 inches of rain in 24 hours (more than than they have in a single day for more than 40+ years) and plenty before and after that day, we spent a lot of time going to another part of the island - Poipu. In Poipu we found more sun, beaches that were less polluted with run off and grime from flooding, and a lot of fun.

We thought we were extremely lucky to be in Poipu on a day when a turtle and a monk seal could be seen on the beach, at the same time - so we saw a family setting up their beach gear and we excitedly shared that the turtle and seal were on the beach - their reply: yeah, they're here every day.

Grandpa and Will on the beach - Will learned to use a straw on this trip!

Tom was convinced he was going to be riding huge waves after his first fews tries at surfing (and I was afraid he was going to do that as well and embarrass me - Cody- but as it turns out, we both just rode waves that you could hardly even see, as shown above and below.

Angie also surfed with us - we took lessons and rented boards for the week. I think we got out 3-4 times, and each time we were reminded that his is not a hobbie one picks up on vacation, rather over a life time.

Will and Mom, happy to be hanging

Grandma Kath and Aunt Angie showing Will the ropes

Will's foot prints were adorable in real life, and still pretty cute on the camera

Digging buddies celebrating a days hard work

Wanna be surf dudes

We took a small airplane tour around the island - Cody only got one decent picture because he was green the rest of the time. Small planes and Cody don't go well together.

Will was buddy buddy with all the patrons, and belly dancers at a gourmet restaurant we went to in Haena in Kauai

Will was a digging maniac - he was trying to keep up with Grandpa who spent hours digging holes in the sand.

Dad's Shoes

I am sooooo in love with this little boy!! He is so passionate, excitable, and intense. I said to Will, "Go get your shoes so we can go outside." He brought Cody's shoes over to me with this adorable expression on his face. He grunts over how heavy items are and now will show you his muscles.
This is one of his favorite shirts....we call it his bird shirt and he loves to pull his shirt out in front of him to look at the bird. Will, you are one adorable kid!

Millcreek Canyon

Cody and I spontaneously took a half a day off of work last Friday and dashed up the canyon behind our house for a beautiful fall hike!! AMAZING!! Here is our signature "taking it all in" mountain pose!
Our hiking girl, Ellie. Love that dog!!

Soaking the day up! A gorgeous view of the Salt Lake Valley from the top!

Happy Halloween from our little Hornet

What does the hornet say, Will? His response was a good BZZZZZ sound!! We decided a hornet was fitting for Will because when he was a little tiny baby he would so intensely cry and I would call him a little hornet. He was adorable....and we love our passionate little guy...even when he is a hornet.
Will made the neighborhood rounds and got special treat bags from Kathy next door and John and Shann across the street.

Grandma Kath and Grandpa Doug came down for the festivities. My mom gave him a trick-or-treat pumpkin and book he really got into. Highlights of the season included his first lollypop, spiders, pumpkins, and playing in the leaves.
Grandma loves her little boy and when she goes home after taking care of Will for her week she almost always says, "I can hardly stand to be away for 10 days....he will change so much." Grandma extraordinaire!!
He had the pumpkin thing down, but didn't care much for the treats this year.

Halloween day was absolutely gorgeous and we soaked up the sunshine after a couple weeks of rainy/snowy weather. We stumbled across a Halloween street fair at the University and Will's red balloon was the big hit.
Will is fascinated by helicopters. We took a trip to Fort Douglas Army museum during the day. We decided he likes to pick helicopters out of the sky, instead of viewing them up close. The main entertainment was the stree fair....we've decided to make it a yearly tradition!

Fall FUN!

Raking leaves with dad!!! Our little outdoorsman loves to be outside rain or shine. We have had some cooler weather the last few weeks but it hasn't stopped us much!
Beautiful Logan! We spent a weekend up in Logan with Grandma Kath and Grandpa Doug and well as Great Big Grandpa Tom and Great Grandma Do. The Minnesotan's were driving south for some warm weather and stopped by to catch up. It was also Grandma Kath's birthday.

Will showing everyone his Halloween costume...a hornet!
Will didn't think much of his own birthday cake, but loved Grandma Kath's!

His intense stare at the candle. My mom has taught Will some of the cutest things including blowing out candles. He got it the first try at Grandma Kath's birthday party!!
Yummmm!!
Happy 58th birthday Grandma Kath!! My mom laughs at Will because he loves to point out her spider veins and age spots. I love how my mom is so happy about that...she loves being a grandma which comes with age!! Dad and Will exploring the Historical Farm in Logan at the Harvest Festival

I love this picture of the three of us...it reminds me of how much my mom has helped me this year with Will and the wonderful bond we have as mother and daughter. Thanks, Mom!!
