Christmas Fesitivies

This was our first Christmas in our house of 8 years! Because of Baby Kate being due soon after the new year, we hosted Christmas at our house - it was a delight to have Will enjoy the Holidays at home, but we did very much miss seeing everyone that was out of town.

Grandma Kath and Cody prepared Lefse, a lot of Lefse, which didn't last long. In fact, a good portion of it was eaten right off the frier - Will didn't hesitate to join in.

Lefse balls, ready to be rolled...and then consumed by Little Grandpa Doug, the King of Lefse consumers.

Baby Kate was even offered some Lefse in Utero.

The umpteen year old garage sale griddle, a veteran of the trade, under the supervision of Grandma Kath. The Lefse is always prepared after careful review of the step by step custom instructions passed down from Big Grandpa Tom. Cody mixed and rolled, Grandma Kath fried, the rest...ate. A recipe to be enjoyed by generations to come.

This was the first year that Will fully engaged the unbridled enthusiasm he has for opening gifts and unpacking stockings. After the first one he thought he was all done...after we showed him that he had a second present he had no trouble looking for the third, fourth...

One gift was so big (the box any way) that Santa couldn't fit it down the chimney, so it was delivered to the front porch.

And what could require such a grand box? The much anticipated, often requested, specifcally orange Strider balance bike, finally! Will had been asking for one for months, and Santa pulled through. Of course the box was more thoroughly enjoyed than the bike, for a few days anyway.

Bags can be pretty fun too you know.

New stockings for Dad, Mom, Will and Kate (In that order left to right).

We had to catch our fine dress and hair styles on camera, we only get this dressed up every so often you know.

The last Christmas as a family of three, and it was a great one.

Will and Dad had the honors of putting the Snowflake Star atop the tree.

Will was a casual participant in the Christmas pagent at his school - he stood without crying very well, but was not as willing to wear the Santa hat.

I am not sure any of the parents could make out any words, but we all knew which child was the star of the show of course...to each, our own.

A Pirate's life for me...The Pirate attire was the biggest hit of all gifts - and the box from the bike became a pirate ship of course.

Will has been thoroughly interested in pirate books and sayings for weeks know, and that peaked when he got is very own hook, cutlass, telescope, bag of treasures, ear ring, jolly roger bandana and compus.

Before the box, the laundry basket was used to set sail and gather pirates treasure in.
